You can tell a lot about a person from their wallpaper

One of the more interesting parts of my job is that I have to go around to a bunch of different people’s workspaces throughout the day to work on their computers. As I was sitting there today, bored out of my mind, while watching the progress bar for an Adobe Reader install creep across the screen of the ancient laptop that I was installing it on, I noticed something.  The owner of this particular laptop (who was a really cool guy by the way) had a picture of his dog as his wallpaper. As I looked at the beautiful white dog on the screen (I think it was a Scottish Terrier) I remembered that just a few days ago I had been working on someone else’s computer who also had a picture of their dog as their wallpaper.

I think I’m beginning to see a pattern emerging as I get to witness more and more wallpapers. Here are the different test groups and their wallpaper preferences that I have found so far.

Males 18-30: pictures of sports cars

Females 18-30: pictures of hot guys (usually with their shirts off)

Males 30+: pictures of their dog

Females 30+: pictures of their family/kids

Now this study that I’m doing has not been going on for very long, but I’m also taking account my previous job in which I also got to see lots of wallpapers. I’ll try to keep giving updates as my study continues.

Then there is me. My background is just the solid color black. What do you think that says about me? I’m kind of scared to think about what that means.
